We are hosting our Convening Panel next month ahead of our 2021 Maryland State of Reform Health Policy Conference on May 13th. Like our Convening Panel meeting, our conference will be virtual this year.
The job of the Convening Panel is to help identify the right topics, sessions and speakers for the conference. So, if you have ideas for sessions or speakers at this year’s event, we’d love to get your input. We crowdsource our speakers and sessions so that we have as many credible voices in the mix as is possible for a one day event.

Some are leaving their jobs and signing on with staffing agencies that pay better and are driving up the cost of providing health care.

Larry Hogan has requested that nursing programs encourage student engagement in caring for hospitalized COVID-19 patients and in assisting with COVID-19 screenings and vaccines. In response, the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) has been strongly encouraging its entry-into-practice students scheduled to graduate in spring 2021 to begin participating in clinical experiences and community/public health rotations as soon as possible, before the Jan. 28 start of the spring 2021 semester.

Vaccines. Vaccinations. Vaccine hesitancy. These words have become pervasive in today’s lexicon, particularly now as vaccines equipped to battle the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been authorized for emergency use.
But where do individual rights fit in when public health is threatened? What roles do psychology, faith, and reasoning play in decision-making about whether to trust or reject science? How do different health professions contribute to vaccine development, research, vaccine distribution, and public health education?
