A man was arrested in connection with the assault of a Delmar police officer and an elderly couple on Sunday, Delaware State Police said.
Randon D. Wilkerson, 30, was charged with attempted murder in the first degree and two counts of first-degree assault, among other charges, according to a Delaware State Police news release late Sunday, April 25.
A vigil was held for the victims Sunday evening at the Delmar Police Department.
At about 5:12 a.m. Sunday, Delmar Police Department was dispatched to a fight in progress at the 11000 block of Buckingham Drive in the Yorkshire Estates community. The 911 caller reported an occupant of the house, later identified as Wilkerson, was fighting with other residents of the house and destroying items, police said.

A Delmar police officer is in critical condition after responding to a fight in progress at the Yorkshire Estates Community in Delmar on Sunday morning, according to police.
The officer, identified as Cpl. Keith Heacook, a 22-year veteran, was first transported to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Md., and was en route to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, part of the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore as of about noon Sunday.
Heacook suffered a traumatic head injury during the attack and responded to the call alone, according to Delmar Chief Ivan Barkley, who was visibly shaken during a news conference on Sunday.
