Most teenagers are excited to get their driver’s license, but one Maine teen is working to get her private pilot’s license despite a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes nearly taking that dream away. Casey Raymond, 16, dreams of being a commercial pilot. The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School junior was in the middle of flying lessons when an FAA physical exam found she had Type 1 diabetes.
