ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Dr. Arthur S. Billings, 86, died of natural causes Jan. 17, 2021, at the Masonic Home of Florida in St Petersburg. He previously resided in Treasure Island, Fla. with his wife, Patricia Trenkle Billings.
Arthur was born May 26, 1934 to Herold and Naomi (Stevens) Billings in Presque Isle where he spent his childhood. Arthur graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor’s degree in 1956. He went on to pursue a career in medicine, graduating in 1960 from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Mo.

ORONO, Maine On Wednesday, February 17 at 9 a.m., the University of Maine at Orono unveiled its Transformative $110 Million Athletics Facilities Plan. It s exciting news for student-athletes, since the investment is designed to impact all 17 of the university s division one sports programs.
This plan is part of a greater $240 million investment by the Harold Alfond Foundation (announced in October) to help bring change to the entire UMaine system. $90 million is being dedicated specifically to sports at UMaine Orono over a period of 10 to 12 years. Colrain student makes Dean’s List
COLRAIN Colrain resident Lizzie Herzig has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maine at Orono for the fall semester.
Herzig is in her junior year and is majoring in wildlife ecology with a minor in sustainable agriculture. She is the daughter of Ken Herzig and Rita Thibodeau of Colrain.

PORTLAND – B. Rose Thompson passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2021 while under the loving care of the Birchwood at Canco staff with her family by her side. She was born in Portland, the only child of Robert H. Haskell and Irene E. (Stimpson) Haskell. Her grandmother and namesake, Beulah Haskell, was a long time resident of Portland.
Rose was a graduate of South Portland High School and attended both Gorham State Teachers College and University of Maine at Orono. She met the love of her life and future husband Paul A Thompson while both were attending college in the Portland area. Paul was attending and graduated from Southern Maine Technical Institute presently (Southern Maine Community College).
