Tim Caverly to share scenic, historic photos of married life in the Maine woods

Tim Caverly. (Photo courtesy Rockland Public Library) The Rockland Public Library presents author Tim Caverly, Thursday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m., on Zoom. This event is free and open to all. As children in Baxter State Park, Tim and Susan Caverly both hiked the trails up and over Mt. Katahdin. However, the two never met until college. On February 11, Tim will share scenic and historic photos illustrating the couple’s life together in the Maine woods in this heartwarming Valentine’s Day event. A former Maine Park Ranger, Tim Caverly has written ten books about Maine. His work has appeared in the Bangor Daily News and he has a monthly column in The Maine Sportsman. Tim and his wife are graduates of the University of Maine at Machias. They live in Millinocket.

UMaine to host virtual career fair Feb 3 - UMaine News

The University of Maine Career Center will host the annual Career Fair virtually 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Feb. 3 on the Career Link platform.   UMaine’s Career Fair, which is the largest in the state, is held each year for UMaine and University of Maine at Machias students and alumni of all majors. All those with an @maine.edu address are welcome to attend. More than 108 employers from Maine and around the country will participate; all have summer jobs, internships and part-time or full-time positions available for applicants in every discipline. Selected branches of the U.S. military will also be represented.

Being Black in Maine to livestream on Martin Luther King Day Event Location:  Event has passed In recognition of Martin Luther King Day, a free online public webinar, “Being Black in Maine: Lived Experience and the Prospect for Change,” will be livestreamed on YouTube on Monday, Jan. 18, from 5 to 6:15 p.m.  The webinar, co-sponsored by the Greater Bangor Area Branch NAACP and the University of Maine Alumni Association, will include a sustained panel discussion, relevant short presentations and a special announcement of a new civil rights speaker series.  The YouTube event can be viewed at: https://youtu.be/zQlUVca2ReM.

2021 UMaine Student Symposium collecting submissions - UMaine News

Abstract submissions for the 2021 University of Maine Student Symposium on April 16 are now being accepted. The UMaine Student Symposium, which will be held virtually this year, is a campuswide celebration of achievement in student research and creative activity. Participants will present their research and creative activity through video presentations, which will be judged by faculty, staff and community sponsors. Any student from UMaine or the University of Maine at Machias interested in presenting their work must submit their abstracts via an online form by March 10.  More information about the event and submitting abstracts can be found online.
