Kyle Borsa and Robbie Lowes are used to facing off against each other in practice, and that’s not going to change in the CFL.
Borsa, a running back, and Lowes, a linebacker, have been teammates for years. It began as members of the Riffel Royals when Lowes was a senior and Borsa was just in Grade 10.
They were teammates again a few years later, when Lowes joined the University of Regina Rams after time spent with the Regina Thunder and Westshore Rebels junior teams.
And even when the two didn’t get to pick where they would start their CFL careers, they wound up being taken by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers just four picks apart in the 2021 draft.

They won’t get a chance to play, but three members of the University of Regina Rams have been chosen for Team West at the 2021 East-West Bowl which showcases prospects for the 2022 CFL draft.
The three are receiver Bennett Stusek, defensive back Jaxon Ford and linebacker Ryder Varga.
In two seasons with the club, Stusek, who went to high school at Regina’s Campbell Collegiate, has caught 54 passes for 918 yards and two touchdowns.
Ford, who was a teammate of Stusek’s at Campbell, is a key member of the secondary. In his two years with the “Horns”, Ford has accumulated 62 total tackles including 4.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and seven pass deflections for the Rams.
Kyle Borsa believes the CFL draft is a symbol for all the hurdles he has overcome during his university football career. "Hearing my name called is go.
