The Desert Winds Freedom Band, a 501(c )(3) nonprofit, is a large and diverse community musical group based in Palm Springs. Founded by Gary Moline in 2001 with just 17 members, the band has grown, both in membership and concert attendance. Now in its 19th season, the band boasts more than 80 members. In addition to providing the gift of music at various venues and events around the Coachella Valley, the organization has a philanthropic arm and recently provided $1,000 scholarships to three college-bound student musicians.
