Fallaw named county Teacher of Year

April 18, 2021 DOBSON ― Alicia Fallaw, second grade teacher at Flat Rock Elementary School, recently was named the 2021-2022 Surry County Schools Teacher of the Year. This announcement came as a surprise to Fallaw as she was named during a previously scheduled faculty meeting. Her husband, Chris Fallaw, their three children, Anderson, Christopher, and Westin, as well as her parents, Jimmy and Jane McMillian, were in on the surprise along with the Flat Rock Elementary faculty and staff, Surry County Board of Education members, Superintendent Dr. Travis L. Reeves, and other district administrators. Fallaw has taught since 2003 and is an 18-year veteran of the Surry County School System. She began her career teaching second grade at Dobson Elementary before transitioning to Flat Rock Elementary in 2010. She taught third grade at Flat Rock for two years before returning to second grade where she has remained since 2012.

Boston woman wanted for stealing credit cards in UNCG academic buildings

Updated: 1:34 PM EDT Apr 17, 2021 WXII12.com Web Staff A Boston woman is wanted on nine charges related into breaking into academic buildings at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and stealing financial cards.UNC Greensboro police say 58-year-old Crystal Golston, of Boston s Roslindale neighborhood, entered four academic buildings during the morning hours of March 25 and stole credit and debit cards from offices.The incident was caught on security camera footage, which can be seen in the video player above.Golston is facing four counts of breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny, one count of possession of stolen goods, once count of obtaining property by false pretenses, one count of financial card theft and one count of financial card fraud. Investigators say Golston took a trip to Tennessee about a month and a half ago, traveled to North Carolina and is still believed to be in Knoxville, Tennessee at this time. While the incidents hap

The word is out that North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is contemplating a run for the soon-to-be-vacated U.S. Senate seat of Republican Richard Burr. This is from a story by Travis Fain of WRAL: Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, one of the more popular Republican politicians in North Carolina, is “seriously considering” a jump into the state’s 2022 U.S. Senate race, a spokesperson confirmed Wednesday. A second source, a Republican operative in the state, also said Robinson is “seriously considering” the move, that he reached out to other senior elected Republicans about it and that he “has been encouraged to enter.” Both sources asked that their names not be used, but one is a spokesperson for Robinson himself and the other a well-known operative.
