WASHINGTON, April 27 The Biden administration will ease travel restrictions allowing Chinese students to come to the United States for classes this fall and from other countries where most non-US citizens remain barred from the United States, government officials told Reuters. The US State Department is set to announce later today it is expanding its national interest exemptions to cover students and academics around the world starting Aug. 1 after it made the change in March for European students, officials said.

Beckerle is among 120 newly elected members announced in a press release during the annual meeting of the National Academy of Sciences. Election as a member in this organization is widely accepted as a mark of excellence in scientific achievement and is considered one of the highest honors a scientist can receive. Of its more than 2,400 current members, approximately 190 have received a Nobel Prize, according to the National Academy of Sciences.
