  The semester-long program was developed by the UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), UNCW College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) and New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s (NHRMC) Innovation Center.   The program is aimed at being a “team-based, interactive and handson learning experience,” said Diane Durance, director of the CIE.   The class will be structured around teams that will find pain points in the health care industry and work to develop solutions through a design thinking process.     While the program is new, the concept has been in the development process over the past couple of years, Durance said.

It’s why some use the more inclusive acronym: LGBTQ+. It’s certainly not news that growing up this way is complicated and difficult. Stories about the violence and discrimination perpeptrated on LGBTQ+ people are also well-known and well-documented. And while this violence and discrimination is lessening as representation in mainstream culture increases, it’s still here. Just a scan of news headlines in April 2021 tell us this:

MegaCorp gains airtime during the Masters through player sponsorship

(Photo courtesy of MegaCorp) During the Masters Tournament, pro golfer Brian Harman over the weekend donned a hat with the logo of Wilmington-headquartered MegaCorp Logistics for viewers to see throughout the internationally televised rounds. The gear, worn by Harman at all of his tournaments, is part of a sponsorship the local logistics firm has held with the PGA Tour player since 2018, Katie Braskett, MegaCorp s director of marketing, said Monday. Harman spent time on the leaderboard heading into the weekend in Augusta, tying for second behind eventual winner Hideki Matsuyama. He ended up tied for 12th after the final round Sunday, which draws millions of viewers. Harman and his MegaCorp hat head next to the RBC Heritage this week in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
