The Cleveland Indians are no more. The team was already scrapping mascot Chief Wahoo said to be “racist” and now, the name itself is gone. It’s nothing new; the Indians join the Washington Redskins, the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux, and the William & Mary Tribe (formerly the “Indians.”) President Donald Trump tweeted that it was “cancel culture at work.”
It’s more than that. It’s about power and racial collective interests. If it is offensive to have Indian mascots, is it offensive to have white ones? The answer is that it depends.

Elon University celebrated the accomplishments of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program’s Class of 2020 on Saturday, Dec. 12 during its Commencement ceremony. The event recognized the triumph and perseverance of these 45 new Elon graduates as they completed their academic and clinical work with the added challenge of learning and practicing health care during a global pandemic.
In her commencement address, Dean Gail Jensen from the Graduate School and College of Professional Studies at Creighton University encouraged the new graduates to develop habits of not just the head and the hand, but of the heart.

Colorado State University was one of more than 30 institutions of higher learning that participated in Colorado Free Application day on Oct. 13.
More college-bound Coloradans applied to college for free this year.
Students submitted nearly 57,000 college and university admission applications during the third Colorado Free Application Day on Oct. 13. Participation increased 28% from last year and students saved more than $2.3 million in waived fees.
All the state’s 32 public colleges and universities and several private institutions participated in the event, receiving 56,896 applications. Colorado State University led with 10,336 applications, followed by the University of Colorado Boulder with 9,053. Statewide, submissions to four-year institutions went up by 24% compared to last year.
