Itâs already been a year of big change for the Portland Winterhawks. In December 2020, a group led by investment banker Michael Kramer and retired Monsanto executive Kerry Preete became the junior hockey teamâs new owners. Due to COVID-19, the current season was both massively delayed and greatly shortened: a mere 24 games against the four Western Hockey League teams in Washington, with no road trips to Canada. Portland also had to play its first âhomeâ contest at the Seattle Thunderbirdsâ arena in Kent, before finally returning to Veterans Memorial Coliseum on March 26. There were no fans in the stands.
The East Carolina University softball team (9-6, 0-0 American Athletic Conference) will travel to Athens, Georgia, to play in the UGA Classic against the University of Georgia Bulldogs (15-2, 0-0 Southeastern Conference) and the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks (6-8, 0-0 Summit League) from March 12 to March 14.
The Pirates recently lost a game against the Longwood University Lancers (5-13-1, 0-0 Big South) on March 7 by a score of 4-1. In that game, freshman pitcher Logyn Estes led the team with two hits in the loss.
First up for ECU in the UGA Classic will be Georgia, and they will play on March 12 at 6 p.m. and March 13 at 11:30 a.m. So far this season, the Bulldogs have scored 114 total runs through 17 games this season.

It s called any given Sunday in the NFL and it means simply- never expect the win, because some Sundays that odd shaped football just doesn t bounce your way. You lose to a team that on paper shouldn t have stood a chance.
In college football that s more than likely gonna be an any given Saturday . That Saturday was February 27th. The Southern Illinois Salukis were 16.5 point underdogs and hadn t beat the NDSU Bison in their last 8 outings going back to a Saluki victory in 2009.
The question must be asked.what in the hell is a Saluki?

Softball season is underway as the Murray State softball team kicked their season off in the Southern Mississippi tournament on Feb. 13 and 14.
The Racers lost three of their four games in the tournament over the weekend, including two losses to Southern Illinois University and another loss to University of Southern Mississippi.
Game One
The Racers started the weekend against the Southern Illinois University Salukis, a game they lost 3-1. Junior right-hander Hannah James got the start on the mound for Murray State and struggled early, walking the first batter and allowing a hit from freshman right fielder Bailey Caylor in the first inning. However, the Salukis weren’t able to score until the fifth inning when graduate student Maddy Vermejan scored on a fielding error that also allowed for Caylor to reach first.
