Six girls will compete for the titles of Miss Nisswa, Miss Nisswa First Princess and Miss Nisswa Congeniality, and six second-graders will have the opportunity to be selected as one of three Little Miss Nisswa girls. The 49th annual Miss Nisswa Scholarship Pageant and 30th annual Little Miss Nisswa program will start at 6:30 p. m. Saturday, April 10, at Nisswa Elementary School.

It will be another busy summer construction season at the University of North Dakota. New buildings…demolition…road improvements…additions…and renovations have been common campus themes in recent years.
Progress is being made on the Memorial Union project…Nistler College of Business raised its final beam last week…Chester Fritz Library renovations are nearly complete. More street improvements are planned around the campus – including a stretch of Columbia Road. The Memorial Village project is also getting underway. UND has plans to demo McVey and West Halls in favor of two new buildings near Stanford and University Avenue.
Joyce Corey Receives the Presidential Award for Research and Creativity
Joyce Corey, professor of chemistry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, is the 2002 winner of the Presidential Award for Research and Creativity. The award is given in recognition of a sustained effort of nationally or internationally prominent research or creativity and includes a $15,000 stipend.
UMSL did not offer an advanced degree in chemistry when Corey joined the faculty in 1968. Corey quickly began establishing a productive research program. One of the world’s leading experts on organosilicon chemistry, Corey is an active member of the American Chemical Society.
Chemists around the world use a process Corey developed early in her career called the “Corey reaction.” She has authored more than 100 articles.
