Minnesota lawmakers closed out the 2021 legislative session this week with a tentative budget deal and a lot of work left to do before a June overtime session.
More than four months into the session, legislators in the Senate and House of Representatives closed out their official work period without passing a single budget bill. And absent specifics, the numbers-only agreement left room for blowups as legislators pick up their unfinished business in working groups over the next few weeks.

Researchers Will focus on the processes that lead to the development of eating disorders and obesity

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) A new grant is helping Sanford Health develop research on eating disorders and related conditions.
The $12 million award was given by the National Institutes of Health and will allow researchers to focus on the processes that lead to the development of eating disorders and obesity.
Part of the funding will also allow for schools such as North Dakota State University, University of North Dakota and several other universities across the country to help develop a scientific center to help combat these disorders.

Contrary to what we reported last week, the Legislature did appropriate money for the technical education centers proposed by Sen. Rich Wardner. They stripped the bonding bill of the proposed $60 million and passed $70 million for the centers in general appropriations. (And lost me in the process.)
If effectively administered, the technical education centers will mean a new day for thousands of North Dakotans – young people not interested in 4-year college degrees, workers whose jobs disappeared in COVID, convicts hoping for a new start, and older-than-average students who want to join the new economy.
