AdventHealth today announced it will build a $100 million, 100-bed hospital with an emergency room on Palm Coast Parkway, just west of the Market Street assisted living facility, bringing hundreds of jobs, remaking the complexion of the west side of Palm Coast Parkway and reasserting itself as the dominant force in health care in Palm Coast and Flagler as challengers appear on the horizon.
The four-story hospital is scheduled to open in late 2022, according to a company release, “and will join AdventHealth Palm Coast to provide additional convenience and comprehensive care, including world-class orthopedics services, to Flagler residents.”

As COVID-19 vaccines continue to be distributed across the nation, the White House Coronavirus Task Force is urging states to continue and even expand testing.
In its most recent report to date, the task force called on Florida to require weekly testing for all teachers of grades kindergarten through 12.
The report encourages required testing on college campuses as well, but in addition to teachers, suggests students be included. The goal is to quickly identify those non-symptomatic carriers of the virus and keep the disease off campuses.
The global pandemic seems a fine excuse to close the doors, sink into the couch, grab some snacks and turn on Netflix.
That’s understandable, says James Churilla, graduate program director of Exercise Science and Chronic Disease at the University of North Florida.
But he’s among those urging people to get up and get moving, even in such challenging times.
You may have to change your routines, take extra precautions. But whatever you do, just get up and do it. Your life may depend on it. No kidding.
“Just like people have to go to the doctor safely, continue to go to the dentist safely, they need to keep exercising safely,” Churilla said.
