Rep.-elect Bob Good took the stage at Freedom Plaza on Saturday afternoon and looked out at a sea of masklessness. Thousands had come to march for President Donald Trump - some carrying signs declaring the novel coronavirus a hoax.

December 14 is a sad day at Mount Vernon. Or at least it was in 1799 when George Washington, the father of our country, died of an unknown illness, which came on quickly.
The beginning of the end for Washington came two days earlier when he went for a long horseback ride around his plantation in snowy, 30-degree weather. He awoke the next morning with a severe sore throat and the symptoms got progressively worse from there: hoarseness, cough, chills, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, fever and loss of voice.

The same week that the Charlottesville City Council revisited its local ordinance aimed to curb the spread of COVID-19, Gov. Ralph Northam announced new measures to mitigate the spread of the virus. This comes as case numbers are up nation and statewide with Virginia’s own positivity rate recently at 11%. With the colder months inspiring more time inside and holidays inspiring gatherings, officials are concerned about continued COVID-19 spikes.
The governor’s new executive order, set to take effect on Monday, includes:
a reduction of gatherings from 25 people to 10 people

The driver of a U-Haul box truck that was pursued by police in December is handcuffed on a cot as he awaits transport to the hospital by Woodstock Rescue Squad personnel. The driver is a suspect in a homicide in Harrisonburg. He was captured near Woodstock.
