Vermont begins registration for BIPOC vaccination clinics

As Vermont makes headway in its COVID-19 vaccination distribution plan, registration has begun for clinics aiming to ensure Black, Indigenous and other residents of color receive a dosage. The clinics comes as racial justice advocates and health officials have noticed disparities in inoculation rates in Vermont communities of color as compared to white, non-Hispanic residents.  As of Wednesday, 28.5% of the state s total population over age 16 had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Vermont s Health Department also breaks down vaccination by race and ethnicity on its online dashboard. According to the dashboard, a total of 14.5% of the state s total Black, Indigenous, and other populations of color (BIPOC) had been vaccinated as of Wednesday. In contrast, 25.8% of the state s non-Hispanic white population had received the vaccine.
