Export barriers threaten global Covid battle
The US, European Union and India all face heavy domestic pressure to stop vaccines made in their countries from being sent abroad

The world’s fight against Covid-19 is under threat as countries push up export barriers amid fears that vaccine nationalism could haunt the global trade system for months to come.
Restrictions on medical exports that have jumped since the start of the pandemic show little signs of abating, according to analysis by the University of St Gallen, with vaccine-related barriers rising even higher this year.
Researchers found 119 new policy interventions affecting trade were introduced last month, with the “overwhelming majority” targeting the medical goods sector. Experts warn the measures could take a long time to unravel – and frustrate efforts to control the pandemic.

Contactless Payments and Credit Card Transactions Increasing Steadily in Switzerland: Report

Swiss Payment Monitor reveals that the trend towards credit card use and contactless payment methods has remained steady in Switzerland.
The Swiss Payment Monitor is a research initiative that’s supported by the
University of St.Gallen and the
ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences. The research project is also backed by the
Swiss Payment Association (SPA) and the industry partners
Concardis and
Worldline.
Swiss Payment Monitor reveals that Swiss consumers spent the most funds with their credit cards last year, with about 24% of their total transactions carried out via credit card payments.
