Synopsis: Rosanna Coyne began making furniture as a child, and continued her woodworking education in a traditional manner as an adult by taking classes at North Bennet Street School. It was in one of those classes that she discovered carving, and found the passion that changed the course of her woodworking journey.
Master wood carver and wood turner Rosanna Coyne was introduced to the hands-on life at an early age. Her mother and father both emigrated to the United States from Sicily, Italy, and did things the old way. Her mom canned the produce from her father’s big garden. He worked as a general contractor, and Rosanna followed him around job sites from the time she was 9 or 10 years old, filling nail holes in trim or whatever she could do to be useful.
The University of Hartford plans to hold in-person classes as its primary format for courses beginning in the fall semester, as the school plans to roll back pandemic-related measures.
UHart President Gregory Woodward partly attributed the decision to the ongoing rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, and said students at the university this fall can expect a more traditional college experience compared with the worst periods of the pandemic.
“The weather is warming and access to vaccines is ramping up across the country; hopefully a new post-pandemic reality is arriving soon,” Woodward said. “We look forward to creating and offering the full UHart experience together this fall.”
A Connecticut reality show star will headline a drive-in fundraiser next week.
Javier Colon, a winner on NBCâs âThe Voice,â will perform Saturday, April 17, at the first-ever Easterseals drive-in event. The drive-in will be at the 34th Annual Crystal Ball in Farmington.

Held at the Farmington Polo Grounds, the reimagined annual event will feature entertainment, live and silent auctions, a gourmet boxed meal and signature drinks.
Colon is a Connecticut native who was born in Stratford and pursued a degree in music education from The University of Hartford. He is a former member of EmcQ and The Derek Trucks Band. He was the winner on the first season of NBCâs âThe Voice.â

Joni Mitchell s album Blue turns fifty this year. It may not have the artistic sophistication of her later albums, but Mitchell s vulnerability endeared her to fans, if not early critics unused to such intimate storytelling. That was okay with Mitchell. She said her music is not designed to grab instantly. It s designed to wear for a lifetime, to hold up like a fine cloth.
She was right. Rolling Stone magazine ranked Blue the third greatest album of all time on its 2020 list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, a move up from number thirty-three in 2017.
