Northeast digs out after deadly winter snowstorm
At least five people died as a winter storm swept through the Northeast this week, resulting in treacherous road conditions. Some major cities received more snow than they ve had in years.
In New York, police responded to more than 600 accidents. A deadly pileup in central Pennsylvania on Wednesday involved more than 60 vehicles. A Spirit Airlines flight slid off the runway in Maryland. Binghamton, New York, had a record 41 inches of snow. Last night s storm was just as serious as we anticipated, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo urged residents to stay home. I m telling you it s not safe and you shouldn t be out there, he said.

TORONTO The Ontario government has released a list of 17 additional hospital sites that will receive doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine over the next two weeks. The first 6,000 doses of the vaccine received by the province were sent to Toronto’s University Health Network and The Ottawa Hospital earlier this week. So far more than 2,300 health-care workers have received their first dose of the vaccine at those two sites with more expected to be vaccinated in the coming weeks. The province, however, has planned a wider rollout for when it receives its next shipment of the vaccine. It says that a total of 17 additional hospital sites have been chosen to “to continue vaccinating health care workers and essential caregivers who work in hospitals, long-term care homes, retirement homes and other congregate settings caring for seniors.”

TORONTO Ontario will keep Toronto and Peel Region under lockdown and reveal new measures to fight the pandemic on Monday.
Premier Doug Ford said Friday that restrictions set to expire next week in the two hot spots will remain in place, and his government will contemplate new measures during emergency talks on COVID-19 this weekend.
The province also announced Friday it will move Hamilton into lockdown starting Monday.
