Four University Heights Academy students have been selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program.
They are identified by the school as Haiden Hauret, Lauren Sisk, Samuel Cotthoff, and Walter Kunnmann.
The Governor’s Scholars Program is a summer residential program for outstanding high school students in Kentucky who are rising seniors. Mayor Wendell Lynch has selected 12 Hopkinsville residents to serve on a citizens committee that will study whether the city should have nonpartisan elections.

They are listed on an executive order prepared for Hopkinsville City Council’s next meeting, on Tuesday, April 20.
The committee chair will be Rich Maddux, a former manufacturing plant executive who now runs The Rabbit’s Basket, an urban farm, with his wife. He has been active in local and state civic work for many years and currently serves on the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
In a year restricted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Christian County High Class of 2021 reminisced about their years in school Thursday with a milestone.
Senior Reflections is a day for 12th graders to look back on their education experience from kindergarten until the present.
âSenior Reflections is to reflect on that first day of school and all your years in school,â said art teacher Paula Gieseke. âWhether they realize it or not, what this symbolizes is the beginning of the end (of their school career). Itâs one of the last few events we do (for seniors).â
CCHS principal Matthew Boehman said seniors have missed out on in-person activities like pep rallies because of COVID-19. Some students enrolled in virtual classes, while others received non-traditional instruction.
