MISSILES are raining down on the people of Gaza, as the Israelis step up their war to prevent the establishment of the state of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.
Over 100 Palestinians have been killed in airstrikes over the last week including at least 23 children. The Israelis are meanwhile gearing up for a ground war, massing tanks and artillery on the Gaza border.
So-called ‘Arab-Israeli’ towns have erupted, with gangs of Zionist thugs smashing up Arab-owned shops, marking the doors of Arab residents, dragging Arabs from cars and beating them unconscious in scenes reminiscent of ‘Kristallnacht’, the Night of Broken Glass, when a pogrom against Jews took place, carried out by SA paramilitary forces and civilians throughout Nazi Germany on 9-10 November 1938.

The Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), the UK’s largest private pension fund by way of assets, has laid out how pension contributions would need to rise sharply if existing benefits are to be maintained, with employers critical of how it is valuing their support.
As at 31 March 2020, the fund’s deficit ranges from £14.9bn (€16.7bn) to £17.9bn on a technical provisions basis, although USS notes that future service costs have also risen given that expectations of future investment returns are now lower than assumed in the past.
The overall contribution rate currently stands at 30.7% of payroll and is already due to rise to 34.7% under the 2018 valuation.
HUNDREDS of academics, students, trade unionists, politicians and campaigners have expressed solidarity with Bogazici students and academics in Istanbul in an online day of action.
Bogazici students have been protesting against the appointment of an unelected rector by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan since January 4 and have been met with police brutality and state condemnation.
Video messages of support for the resistance against the Turkish government’s interference at the university were shared on social media, including from the Morning Star, in the rally organised by Solidarity with the People of Turkey (Spot) on Sunday night.
The day of action also showcased the creative methods of protest taken on by students, including songs and artwork.
