Aalto in top 50 for responsible consumption and production in THE Impact Ranking

Share Aalto University ranks 47th in the world in responsible consumption and production in this year’s Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings. The ranking is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, and Aalto University was assessed in 13 of these goals. The responsible consumption and production goal was evaluated by the university’s publications and citations in this area, related university’s operations (e.g. waste disposal) and sustainability reporting. Last year Aalto came 2nd in this area. Aalto also made it to the top 200 in four other SDGs: Industry, innovation and infrastructure; Sustainable cities and communities; Clean water and sanitation; and Climate action.

Adversity in early life linked to higher risk of mental health problems

 E-Mail Thursday, 22 April 2021 - New research has found that childhood adversity, such as parental conflict, death of a close family member or serious injury, before the age of nine was associated with mental health problems in late adolescence. However, the research also shows that improving the relationship between parents and children could prevent subsequent mental health problems, even in children who have experienced severe adversities. The research also indicated that improving a child s self-esteem and increasing their levels of physical activity can help to reduce the risk of developing mental health problems. Penn State ranked fourth in the U.S. and 32nd in the world out of 1115 international institutions that participated in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, released today (April 21), placing the University in the top 3% of universities worldwide.  The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking is a broad multidimensional assessment of a university’s research, community outreach and education and campus operations. The criteria used in the assessment are linked to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global goals adopted by all U.N. Member States that look to improve life for all people and protect the planet.
