Ethiopia and Socialist Theory: The Blood on the Wall

He went to Ethiopia to work as a university lecturer in 1977 and published this analysis in 1992. Mengistu Haile Mariam was a bloody militarist and nationalist dictator; how is it then that for a period in the 1970s he was hailed as some sort of socialist by many on the left? That indeed is the puzzle and I hope to indicate in this essay the type of confusion which led to this predicament. The fall of the military regime of Mengistu in Ethiopia which had effectively ruled the country since 1974 poses a number of extremely important questions for socialists, both at the level of theory and in practical activity. Norwich University receives $19 5 million grant to lead Defense Department Cyber Institute program

By NU Office of Communications February 04, 2021 NORTHFIELD, Vt. Norwich University has been designated the lead institution of the nation’s Senior Military Colleges in creating a Department of Defense Cyber Institute program through a recently awarded two-year, $19.5 million grant. The six schools, Norwich University, Virginia Military Institute, The Citadel, Virginia Tech, University of North Georgia, and Texas A&M, will create a pipeline of qualified cyberprofessionals in critical work roles. As the lead institution, Norwich University will execute $4 million over the two years, creating a program office to manage the development of a joint integrated program enabling the development of academic, experiential (internal/external), and educational infrastructure leading to a talent pipeline for potential military and civilian Defense Department’s cyberworkforce.

Former Taylor University professor arrested on multiple child-sex charges

Jan 15, 2021 / 07:51 PM EST UPLAND, Ind. (WISH) A former Taylor University professor was arrested Friday morning on multiple child-sex charges after an Indiana State Police investigation. Jeffrey Marsee, 59, of Upland, is charged with a count of child molesting, two counts of child exploitation, and four counts of possession of child pornography in two separate criminal filings in Grant Superior Court 2 in Marion. Marsee was a Taylor associate professor of kinesiology, the study of body movement. Upon discovery of the allegations in December, the university placed him on administrative leave and barred him from the campus of the Christian liberal arts college about 45 miles northeast of Indianapolis. State police said he was dismissed from his job Dec. 11.
