(WBTV) - Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are hoping members of the public can help them identify the man who robbed a food truck in University City. The incident happened January 28 around 11 p.m. at a food truck near the intersection of University City Blvd. and John Kirk Drive. Surveillance video from the business shows a canopy set up next to the truck where customers place their orders. The surveillance footage shows the suspect emerge under the canopy and grab the employee who is taking orders from customers.

Boy Scouts of America is kicking-off their annual ‘Scouting for Food’ campaign this month. On Jan. 30, Boy Scouts went door-to-door hanging door tags, announcing the start of their food-drive in eight counties including Mecklenburg, York, Lancaster, Anson, Union, Cabarrus, Rowan and Stanly. The ‘Scouting for Food’ campaign asks people to donate non-perishable food items in an effort to refill empty pantry shelves in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties to make sure no one goes hungry. “We are thrilled to be conducting our largest ever food drive that we do annually with the Mecklenburg County Council for Boy Scouts,” Tina Postel, executive director for Loaves & Fishes food pantry in Mecklenburg County, said.

(WBTV) - Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are asking for members of the public to help them identify the suspects who robbed a jewelry store in University City. The incident happened December 29 around 5 p.m. at the Brownlee Jewelers store off University City Blvd. Surveillance video from the business shows three people enter the store and approach the employees.

Man dead after shooting in University City area

Police say a man was found with a gunshot wound in the 1700 block of Caroway Street. One person is dead after a shooting in northeast Charlotte Sunday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Police said officers were conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of Pavilion Boulevard and University City Boulevard around midnight when they heard several shots fired in the area.   The officers investigated the source of the shots and found a man with a gunshot wound in the 1700 block of Caroway Street. Officers immediately requested for Medic and began administering life-saving efforts to the victim.
