Expanding Opportunities for Our Students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 12, 2021)  University of Kentucky Vice President for Student Success Kirsten Turner emailed UK students yesterday with campus information including new visitation policies for residence halls and fraternity and sorority houses. The email is below. Dear Wildcats, One year ago, we were forced to confront a challenge unlike anything we’d ever witnessed in our lifetimes. It has not been easy, but together, this community has met the moment. We ve implemented protocols across campus that have kept our community healthy and safe  always our top priority. Because of your efforts to participate in team testing and complete your Daily 4.0, we’ve revised our visitation policy in our residence halls, added additional support services in our Office of University Events and expanded facility hours and recreational opportunities to help you engage safely both on and off campus.

Peters, Stabenow Applaud $4.5 Million Federal Funding to Help Advance MTU Automated Vehicle Research Michigan s U.S. Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow yesterday (March 10) welcomed $4,498,650 in federal funding awarded to Michigan Tech for self-driving vehicle research and development. The funding – awarded through the Department of Energy – will support ongoing projects to enhance connected and automated vehicle technologies that improve driver safety by eliminating risk found in human error. Led by the University and in partnership with General Motors (GM), the American Center of Mobility and Stellantis, this research aims to identify additional opportunities for fuel savings and EV range optimization by creating more intelligently operating vehicles.

by University Relations and Enrollment Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) and Michigan Tech announce a Memorandum of Understanding that formalizes a  partnership to explore and develop collaborative opportunities, deepen engagement in areas of mutual expertise, and promote educational opportunities and career exploration for students enrolled in the TCAPS SCI-MA-TECH Program. The agreement will also provide $1,000  renewable for scholarships to SCI-MA-TECH students who enroll at MTU after graduation.  “We are pleased to be partnering with a top-rated university that specializes in engineering and other in-demand STEM fields,” said John VanWagoner, superintendent of TCAPS. “The opportunities for our students to receive lectures and other curricular extensions from Michigan Tech professors, to receive support for robotics programs, and to have the opportunity for a  renewable annual scholarship are incredible benefits for our SCI-MA-TECH students.
