Montgomery Parks Highlights Best Trails for National Bike Month
May is National Bike Month. In celebration, Montgomery Parks announced their top picks for the best locations for bike riding across the county.
Every Friday at 9 a.m. to Sunday at 6 p.m., a section of Beach Drive, from Connecticut Avenue to Knowles Avenue, and sections of Sligo Creek Parkway, from University Boulevard West to Forest Glen Road and Piney Branch Road to Old Carroll Avenue, are closed to motor vehicles and open for bicyclists. From Arlington Road to River Road, Little Falls Parkway is also open for bicyclists starting on Saturdays at 7 a.m. until Sundays at 6 p.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist died after falling off his bike on University Boulevard West, late Friday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police say the incident happened around 11:40 p.m. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released any details regarding the accident, or if there were any other parties involved. JSO’s Traffic Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Units are conducting an investigation around the 3500 blocks of University Boulevard West.

Montgomery County police have charged a man with stealing multiple credits from people throughout Montgomery County last year and using them to make fraudulent purchases.
Matthew John Bell, 37, of Olney, was charged on Jan. 27 with taking credit cards from six women between April and December. In all six cases, the women were shopping in grocery stores when their wallets were stolen.
Police said in a press release that Bell’s thefts included:
On April 23, someone stole a wallet from a woman’s purse while she shopped in a grocery store on New Hampshire Avenue in the Colesville area. The thief bought about $800 worth of prepaid Visa cards using the stolen credit cards.

Maryland high court hears appeal in Hoggle murder case
Maryland’s Court of Special Appeals heard arguments Monday over whether a Montgomery County judge erred in failing to dismiss murder charges against Catherine Hoggle, whose two young children disappeared more than six years ago.
Hoggle was arrested in September 2014. She was the last person to see her children, 3-year-old Sarah and 2-year-old Jacob, alive. [WTOP]
