UPUA releases statement condemning Zoom bombing in Black Caucus s Zoom room

According to the release, UPUA Resolution #46-15: Condemnation of the Zoom-Bombing Made Against the Black Caucus and Demands for Legal Charges Against Perpetrators will be introduced to the General Assembly s Committee on Justice and Equity. Students will be able to support the resolution by attending the UPUA General Assembly meeting next Wednesday at 7 p.m. or by leaving public comments on UPUA s website. In solidarity with the Black community at Penn State, we full-heartedly endorse this resolution as a step toward bringing these criminals to justice, UPUA said in the release. MORE PENN STATE NEWS

Student Fee Board Hears Requests From CCSG, GPSA, & More

The University Park Student Fee Board met Friday to hear allocation request presentations from the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments (CCSG), Graduate and Professional Student Association (GSPA), and Office of Student Activities. Hibah Akbar, the president of CCSG, kicked the Board’s round of hearings off with a presentation of her organization’s request. CCSG is an organization made up of student representatives from both the Commonwealth Campuses and University Park that advocates on behalf of the Commonwealth. CCSG works toward streamlining the voices of the Commonwealth Campuses. Akbar outlined CCSG’s request of $4,096 for the 2021-2022 funding cycle. This request is less than years past because the Board is accepting carry-forward requests, allowing offices to bring any unused funds into the 2021-2022 funding cycle.

UPUA Passes Three Bills In Second Spring Semester Meeting

The 15th Assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association met virtually Wednesday night for its second spring semester meeting. During the special presentation, the assembly heard from Charleon Jeffries, Penn State’s Director for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion of Development and Alumni Relations. Following reports from UPUA President Zach McKay and Vice President Lexy Pathickal, the assembly moved into new business. New Business The first piece of new business for the evening was the confirmation of Executive Director of Health and Wellness Hadya Truesdail. Truesdail said that some of her goals include sharing more mental health resources for students and creating a “Wellness Wednesday” where UPUA promotes health and wellness tips on its social media accounts.
