BOSTON (AP) Massachusetts school districts are stepping up their efforts to vaccinate eligible students before the end of the school year.
Nearly 300 students signed up for Worcester’s first at-school COVID-19 vaccine clinic Tuesday at Worcester Technical High School, The Telegram & Gazette reported.
Clinics are scheduled for Wednesday at North High School and South High Community School, and later this week at Doherty Memorial High, Claremont Academy and University Park Campus School, and Burncoat High.

WORCESTER – Hundreds of students signed up for the city’s first at-school COVID-19 vaccine clinic Tuesday, where some hoped to protect family members, give themselves peace of mind and help ensure there will be no more mandatory remote learning this fall.
According to school officials, around 260 students had enrolled for the event, which was hosted at Worcester Technical High School – nearly one-fifth of the school’s population. Another two clinics are scheduled for Wednesday at North High School and South High Community School, followed by ones Thursday at Doherty Memorial High School, Claremont Academy and University Park Campus School, and one more Friday at Burncoat High School.
Clark University has received a $6 million gift from the late Tina Sweeney. Ms. Sweeney’s gift, a bequest, is dedicated to fostering broader music-education opportunities here at the University and to establishing music programs, through Clark, that inspire and bring music arts education to children in Worcester, said the University.
“She often expressed her gratitude for receiving a financial package that allowed her to attend Clark and sparked a deep and abiding appreciation for the University and its mission,” President Fithian wrote. “I know you join me in extending gratitude and appreciation to Tina Sweeney, posthumously, for this wonderfully generous gift to Clark, which will have a very positive impact on our students and on youth in our neighborhood. We eagerly anticipate opening new avenues of engagement with our community and providing fresh educational and performing opportunities at Clark.”
