Harvard will expand its undergraduate housing capacity on and near campus to accommodate ânormal housing densityâ in fall 2021, even as it anticipates the largest matriculating class in its history, administrators wrote in an email to Faculty of Arts and Sciences affiliates Tuesday afternoon.
The administrators â University President Lawrence A. Gay first shared in a March interview with The Crimson that the University was âcharting a path to a full return for our students, our faculty, and staff.â Weeks later, the College announced a planned return to âin-person learningâ in the fall semester.

Bacow highlighted Potts’ scholarship and sustained investment in spiritual teaching in his email announcing Potts’ appointment.

Harvard Corporation senior fellow William F. Lee â72 said in an interview Wednesday that the University expects high fundraising returns by the end of the fiscal year despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Lee â the lead trustee of the Harvard Corporation, the Universityâs highest governing body â said strong commitment from alumni has resulted in a particularly positive fundraising year for several âcritical areas,â including the arts, quantum computing, and professorships.
âIf the pandemic had lasted five or six or seven years, weâd be having a different conversation, but the fundraising year is going to be a good one,â Lee said. âAnd itâs going to be a good one for reasons that will ensure the vitality of the institution going forward.â
