Weeks after the death of a teenager who died under questionable circumstances, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has directed the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) to provide a more detailed review of the case.
Seventeen-year-old Jalisa McGowan died at the Andrews Memorial Hospital on February 26, 2021, after she was allegedly refused medical assistance at the UHWI during an asthma attack, according to media reports.
In a release this week, the ministry said the hospital was also directed to implement corrective actions .
The directives came following reports submitted to the ministry from the Andrews Memorial Hospital and UHWI.
