The family of Kerry-Ann Collins hopes that her death leads to priority being placed on the setting up of a unit to treat severe burns in Jamaica.
She died Wednesday after suffering third-degree burns while preparing a meal last month at her Kingston-based home. The 25-year-old had to seek assistance overseas because the facilities on the island were reportedly not able to help her due to the severity of her injuries.
It resulted in a desperate effort by her family to raise funds for airfare and medical expenses in the US but, unfortunately, Collins died just hours before she was due to leave the island for a hospital in Georgia.
