Coronavirus: Four more deaths across Hampshire in 48 hours

FOUR more coronavirus patients have died in Hampshire during the last 48 hours. Figures published by NHS England at 2pm today (December 16) reveal that one more person has died with Covid-19. Across the whole of Hampshire, 801 people have died with Covid-19 since the start of the health crisis in March. At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust one person has died in the last 48 hours bringing the total number of deaths to 226. At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, three more patients have, in the last 48 hours, been confirmed as having died from the virus, bringing the total death toll up to 318. No other deaths were recorded across the county s other Trusts.

Biggest Covid increase in a month in Winchester district

WINCHESTER district has seen its biggest daily increase in coronavirus for more than a month. The recent decline of coronavirus in the district has definitely stopped, according to the latest figures released this evening. Thirty-two cases were reported for the district, the highest tally since November 15. There have been 1,919 cases since the start of the pandemic, up from 1,887, meaning an infection rate of 1,536.9 since March. In the seven days to last Saturday, December 11, the Press Association national news agency reports there were 91 cases locally, compared to 60 in the previous seven days. The rate per 100,000 people in the seven days to December 12 in the Winchester district was 72.9 compared to 219.5 in the worst area, Havant, 212.7 in Portsmouth and 217.8 in Rushmoor. The rate in the previous seven days to December 5 for those four areas was 48.1 Winchester, 123.6 Havant, 140.5 Southampton and 81.4 Rushmoor.

THE recent daily decline of coronavirus in the Winchester district appears to be stopping, according to the latest figures. Covid-19 has been on the rise again in most places across Hampshire for several days but had been falling in Winchester. In the seven days to last Friday, December 11, the Press Association national news agency reports there were 84 cases locally, compared to 69 in the previous seven days. The rate per 100,000 people in the seven days to last Friday December 11 in the Winchester district was 67.3 compared to 202.4 in the worst area, Portsmouth, 196.5 in Havant and 191.3 in Rushmoor. The rate in the previous seven days to December 4 for those four areas was 55.3, 141.9, 126.8 and 79.3.
