Covid film urges Southampton residents to follow rules

YOUNG people from across the south have turned their hand to creating films in an effort to urge their peers to continue keeping themselves and their communities safe from the spread of Covid-19. As the further easing of restrictions are eased, the films are being released on social media to encourage young people to keep following the guidance, particularly over the Easter break. Organisations including LifeLab and Southampton Children’s Hospital at University Hospital Southampton, were awarded funding for the film projects through the Southampton City Council COVID-19 Innovations Grant. They then worked with young people in schools, colleges and youth groups to produce short films with the help of professional production companies.

Twins run 148km in aid of children with brain injury ); TEENAGE twins from Binfield Heath ran 148km over a month for a charity. Tom and Mima Bonser, 13, were raising money for Robbie’s Rehab, which is named after a 10-year-old boy who died from a brain tumour almost five years after his mother died from breast cancer. The money will go towards a new neurological rehabilitation ward for children at University Hospital Southampton. Tom amd Mima completed the distance between Henley and Southampton during March, running separately in the evenings for up to 40 minutes at a time. The twins, who are in year 9 at Gillotts School in Henley, liked to run in a field off Heathfield Avenue, where they live with their parents Olly and Henrietta and brother Will, 15.

VISITORS to Hampshire countryside this weekend are being urged to stay safe and sensible . With Covid-19 restrictions beginning to ease in the coming weeks, Hampshire County Council is urging people to follow the rules and respect the countryside as sites get busier over the Easter holidays. The council is urging people to always follow the Government’s latest COVID-19 guidance including on social distancing by avoiding touching gates and railings where possible; leaving gates as they find them; washing hands as soon as you return home; keeping dogs on leads to help maintain a 2m distance from others; and on narrow paths, make other people aware of your presence, find a wide place to pass, and wait if you need to.
