New research from the University of Iowa and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center demonstrates that offspring can be protected from the effects of prenatal stress by administering a neuroprotective compound during pregnancy.
Working in a mouse model, Rachel Schroeder, a student in the UI Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience, drew a connection between the work of her two mentors, Hanna Stevens, MD, PhD, UI associate professor of psychiatry and Ida P. Haller Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Andrew A. Pieper, MD, PhD, a former UI faculty member, now Morley-Mather Chair of Neuropsychiatry at Case Western Reserve University and Investigator and Director of the Neurotherapeutics Center at the Harrington Discovery Institute, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - University Hospitals is now pre-registering portions of the public to schedule their COVID-19 vaccinations.
You do not have to be a UH patient to register or receive a vaccine from UH.
All who classify as the Ohio Department of Health’s COVID-19 vaccination Group 1B can pre-register to schedule getting their COVID-19 vaccination with UH.
The Group 1B vaccination schedule from the ODH allows:

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - On Tuesday, Governor Mike DeWine announced more details about the next phase of Ohioâs vaccination plan.
On January 19th, people 80 and over will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Ohio.
Itâs the moment 83-year-old Mary Deutschman has been waiting for.
âThe sooner, the better; Iâm a little tired of staying at home all day and not doing a whole lot,â Deutschman said. âI mean, I know that itâs not gonna make me stop wearing my mask or anything, but itâs just the hope that Iâm carrying around now.â

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - With one week until Christmas, doctors say the best gift you can give them is wearing your mask and staying socially distant over the holidays.
“We still have three times as many COVID patients in our hospitals now as we did any time over the spring or summer,” said Dr. Robyn Strosaker, chief operating officer at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. “Our hospitals are at 90% capacity. This is not the time to let up, especially with the holidays coming.”
