THE number of coronavirus patients being cared for in Dorset hospitals has been revealed. Latest figures show that 86 patients were being treated across Dorset s three hospital trusts as of Tuesday this week. NHS England data shows 25 coronavirus patients were being cared for at Dorset County Hospital at 8am on February 23 - down from 29 on the same day the previous week. It means the number of beds at DCH occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 has decreased by 69 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 80. The figures also show that 16 new Covid patients were admitted to DCH in the week to February 21. This was down from 26 in the previous seven days.
SEVEN new coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Dorset hospitals in the latest 24-hour period. The fatalities include two new coronavirus deaths at Dorset County Hospital Trust (DCH.) NHS England figures show 105 people had died in hospital at DCH as of 5pm on Thursday (February 25). That was an increase of two compared to Wednesday, when there were 103. Meanwhile, five new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at University Hospitals Dorset Trust in the same time period. NHS England figures show 659 people had died in hospital at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Thursday (February 25). That was an increase of five compared to Wednesday, when there were 654.
A LITTLE more than 100 patients were admitted to Dorset hospitals with coronavirus in the space of a week. Figures released by NHS England shows, between February 15 and February 21, 109 patients were admitted to the county’s hospitals with Covid-19. At the University Hospitals Dorset Trust, 76 patients were admitted, including 20 on February 17 and 18 on February 15. Sixteen people were admitted to the Dorset County Hospital with coronavirus, including five on February 15, and 17 were admitted to the Dorset Healthcare Trust. As of February 23, 50 patients were occupying beds with the virus at UHD, including 10 who required mecahnical ventilation. The Dorset County Hospital had 25 coronavirus patients, two on mechanical ventialtion and the Dorset Healthcare Trust had 11, none on mechanical ventilation.
