WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland has asked British authorities to let a man in a vegetative state in a Plymouth hospital be transported back to the country despite a British court ruling that life-sustaining treatment should be stopped. A Polish government official said on Saturday he had written to Britain s justice minister about the case which has rekindled public debate about the right to life and divided opinion amongst members of the man s own family. Today I contacted the justice minister of Great Britain with a request to transfer our compatriot to Poland, Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Warchol told a news conference. We must be faithful to our culture, traditions and faith, he added. We cannot agree with the civilisation of death, we must defend the civilisation of life as a matter of principle. The exact number of people in Devon s hospitals with Covid-19 has been revealed.

Two mass vaccination centres will expand the roll-out of the Covid-19 jab in Devon from Tuesday.
Plymouth Argyle Football Club s Home Park Stadium and the Westpoint conference centre in Exeter have been selected as the host sites.
NHS Devon said it would mean thousands more vaccinations could be delivered to residents each week.
Darryn Allcorn, chief nurse for the vaccination project, said it was great news for the region.
People aged 80 and over will be the first to be invited for vaccination at one of the two new centres.
