The University of Joshas announced January 22 as its resumption date for the 2019/2020 academic session. The Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the school, Abdullahi Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday. Mr Abdullahi said the decision was reached and approved by the Senate of the university at its 4th special meeting on the 2019/2020 session, held on Monday. “The Senate of the University of Jos has considered and approved an amended Academic Calendar for 2019/2020 Session of the University. “The Senate approved the calendar at its 4th Special Meeting on the 2019/2020Session held on Monday, January 11 “Senate approved that students are to resume for the continuation of the session as from Friday, Jan. 22, with the reopening of the various campuses of the University.

One, the Federal Government promised to release 40billion naira Earned Academic/Earned Allowances to offset part of the outstanding claims of the members of all registered Trade Union in the Universities on or before 31st December, 2020 but it did not.

How 240 UNILAG lecturers flouted ASUU directive, enrolled on IPPIS

Punch Newspapers Sections Sodiq Oyeleke No fewer than 240 lecturers, including professors, at the University of Lagos, enrolled on the Integrated Personnel Payment Information System against the directive by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The PUNCH gathered that the affected lecturers have been sanctioned by the UNILAG chapter of ASUU. The sanction is coming about one week after ASUU suspended its nine-month strike over the non-payment of salaries of ASUU members who failed to enrol into IPPIS and other unfulfilled agreements between ASUU and successive administrations. ASUU had opposed IPPIS used in settling workers’ salaries by FG and developed the University Transparency and Accountability Solution which is currently undergoing test-run by the National Information Technology Development Agency.
