SOFIA (Bulgaria), February 2 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria s Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) said on Tuesday that the Supreme Administrative Court has upheld the regulator s decision to fine two units of Czech energy group CEZ a total of 2.2 million levs ($1.4 million/1.1 million euro).
The regulator fined CEZ Distribution Bulgaria [BUL:3CZ] 1.06 million levs and CEZ Electro Bulgaria [BUL:1CZ] 1.14 million levs for abuse of their dominant market position, the CPC said in a statement.
The two companies used their position to exchange information and obstruct local companies access to the liberalised electricity market, the regulator ruled back in 2017.

SOFIA (Bulgaria), January 28 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria s Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) said on Thursday that it has launched proceedings to establish whether food producer Olinesa Premium complies with a decision issued by the regulator in 2019 regarding product imitation.
In 2019, the antitrust body fined Olinesa Premium 37,000 levs ($22,900/18,900 euro) for imitating Konsul s registered trademark and mayonnaise packaging design.
The competition authority has received a letter from food maker Konsul which claims that Olinesa Premium that Olinesa Premium continues to manufacture and offer mayonnaise under the Olinesa brand with the respective packaging design, the regulator said in a statement.

announced the agreement to buy Nova Broadcasting last month, without disclosing financial terms, but Bulgarian media reports put the value of the deal at about 300 million euro.
Nova comprises of 10 TV channels including national Nova TV, the country’s largest online platform Net Info that reaches on average 80 per cent of the Bulgarian population every month as well as four radio stations.
United Group, owned by London-based private equity firm BC Partners, currently offers pay TV, internet and telecommunications services in Bulgaria, Greece and the six former Yugoslav republics. It
closed the deal to buy Vivacom, one of Bulgaria’s three major telecom operators, in July 2020.

SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria s Commission for Protection of Competition said on Monday that United Media, part of Dutch-based telecommunications and media company United Group, is seeking approval to acquire Bulgaria s Nova Broadcasting Group.
Interested parties have until December 21 to submit their statements regarding the transaction to the regulator, a notice published on the competition authority s website reads.
On Friday, United Group said that it is in talks with Bulgaria s Advance Media Group over the possible acquisition of Nova Broadcasting Group.
