Marble Falls High School track-and-field head coach Chris Schrader needs the help of former athletes to complete a list of school records.
Schrader has been busy compiling the records with help from retired track-and-field coach Kyle Futrell and Marble Falls Middle School boys athletic coordinator Jamie Graham, a 1992 graduate. They’ve tracked down quite a few of the 34 records, but Schrader said the list is incomplete.

They just wanted to paint, so they got together and painted and held meetings and art shows and game days and demonstrations and art lessons, continually growing until, 50 years later, the nonprofit Highland Arts Guild owns its own building, runs its own gallery, and is the next best thing to an art museum in the community.

As the cold weather and extended power outages continue across the Highland Lakes, several facilities have opened their doors as warming centers for residents
Marble Falls Fire Rescue said due to circumstances beyond its control, it is relocating the Marble Falls warming center from Marble Falls Middle School to First United Methodist Church, 1101 Bluebonnet Drive. Pets are allowed but must be in a crate.
People should bring blankets and sleeping bags, especially if they believe they might be staying overnight.

As Central Texas Electric Cooperative crews and additional teams work to restore power, Llano County Judge Ron Cunningham issued a disaster declaration for the county.
Cunningham reported that approximately 86 percent of Llano County homes were without power as of 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, affecting more than 12,000 residents. A bulk of the outages are in eastern Llano County. He added in a media release that there’s no indication that power to some of these home will be restored within 24 hours.

Over the last 14 years, Jerry Watson touched many lives as a coach and youth sports advocate in the Marble Falls area. He died at the age of 60 on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.
Watson is survived by his wife, Jill; sons, Jay and J.T.; and daughter, Jenna, who is a Marble Falls High School junior and cheerleader. His two sons graduated from Marble Falls in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
