While this makes for 3,607 more cases than Thursday’s count of 6,036, the department did note that “case counts today include backlogged antigen testing data from urgent care centers,” with 4,052 of Friday’s newly identified cases coming from specimens collected over a week ago.
The DOH issued a similar statement on backlogged data on Thursday, noting that 1,214 of the day’s new cases also came from specimens dating back a week or more.
“We will continue to report on backlogged data from urgent care centers over the next few days,” the DOH noted in both the Jan. 29 and Jan. 28 reports.
As of Thursday evening, the DOH was notified of 159 newly-reported deaths attributed to the virus, bringing the statewide total to 21,462 fatalities since the start of the pandemic.
For those that have set an appointment, the drive-thru clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Hamilton Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue will be utilized for vaccination lines.
Limited supplies for the COVID-19 vaccine have had a significant effect on the ability of hospital networks’ and other agencies’ ability to administer the vaccine in Pennsylvania and across the country.
Despite the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s recent move to expand Phase 1A eligibility to patients age 65 and older and those between the ages of 16 to 64 with serious medical conditions that increase their risk for severe illness, the Dorney event had to limit patient access to those age 75 and older.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. A mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic was held Wednesday at an amusement park in the Lehigh Valley.
Dorney Park near Allentown is closed for the season, but the parking lot in South Whitehall Township was filled. People came to get their first dose of Moderna s COVID-19 vaccine.
Robert Roberts from Stroudsburg was one of them. I am glad it s over with. We have other things we need to get to down here, so we are doing it all in the same day.
