Free COVID-19 testing will continue each Monday through February near the baseball fields at Treasure Valley Community College. The clinics will be offered by Valley Family Health Care and will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Valley Family is partnering with the collegeâs nursing department to hold the clinics, which will be offered at no cost to anyone age 7 and older, according to information received Sunday from Irene Winters, chief nursing officer. Children younger than 7 will need to see a pediatrician for COVID testing.
Additionally, all Valley Family clinics in both Oregon and Idaho, are now designated as COVID vaccine administration sites, according to Winters. Clinics have started receiving limited shipments of the Moderna vaccine and will begin administering it this week to individuals in the community who fall within the Tier 1 group.
FRUITLAND â While members of the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce are still not able to meet in person for lunch due to Idahoâs current COVID-19 guidelines, they were able to meet over zoom for a virtual luncheon on Wednesday. The topic of this meeting was the state of local response to COVID-19, as well as progress on distribution of available vaccines.
The luncheon was conducted by Annie Knudsen, newly-elected Chairwoman of the chamber Board of Directors. Following is a sample of the information given during the luncheon.
Dina Ellwanger, chief nursing officer for Saint Alphonsus in Ontario, told those in attendance that the pandemic has resulted in a ânew cultureâ within hospital facilities.

WESTERN TREASURE VALLEY â In an email on Thursday afternoon, Irene Winters, Chief Nursing Officer for Valley Family Health Care, informed the newspaper that the organization would receive its first shipment of approximately 100 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine this morning. The organization will make doses available to its front-line employees the same day, transporting doses in a truck with cold-holding equipment to various clinics in the Western Treasure Valley.
âThese will be for our front-line staff and providers, consistent with the prioritization guidelines being followed around the country,â wrote Tim Heinze, CEO in an earlier email. âWe do not have a direct pipeline/relationship with the CDC, though. We are working with our partners at Southwest District Health.â
