Warner Norcross + Juddâs Ojone E. Ameadaji and Barnes & Thornburgâs Erika Weiss were named to the 2020 Hot List by Lawyers of Color, a nonprofit organization that promotes diversity in the legal profession and advances democracy and equality in marginalized communities.
The attorneys were nominated by mentors, peers and colleagues and selected by Lawyers of Colorâs selection committee based on noteworthy accomplishments, especially in diversity pipeline initiatives. The list featured 100 attorneys who all are under the age of 40.
Ameadaji is an associate attorney at Warner Norcrossâ Grand Rapids office. She is a member of the firmâs Trusts and Estates Practice Group. The Nigerian native specializes in estate and succession planning for individuals, families and businesses.

Two more local schools were added to the state’s School-Related Outbreak Report Monday.
Black River Public School and Zeeland’s Cityside Middle School were added in the Feb. 15 update, making seven consecutive weeks a local school was added.
The report defines an outbreak as two or more cases from different households that may have shared an exposure in the school setting. As has been the case with previous outbreaks locally, BRPS and Cityside had the minimum of two related cases to qualify as an outbreak.
Black River’s dashboard shows three cases reported in the past 28 days. In Zeeland s most recent update Thursday, three active cases were reported at Cityside.

Lacks Enterprises named a new CEO and CFO in light of longtime CEO Richard Lacks Jr. transitioning to executive board chair.
The Cascade Township-based manufacturer said last week that it appointed Nick Hrnyak its new CEO; Lacks Jr. was the company’s CEO since 1999.
Lacks also promoted Mike Clover to president from CFO and Scott Chaudoir to CFO from controller. Kurt Lacks remains chair of the board.
Hrnyak’s promotion to CEO from president and Clover’s promotion to president from CFO marks the first time in the company’s 60-year history that it does not have a Lacks family member as either president or CEO.
Albion College launches partnership with WMU medical school

ALBION, MI Albion College has formed a new partnership with the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
The Michigan liberal arts college’s partnership with the medical school will offer students an eight-year educational program to earn a doctorate degree, according to a news release from Albion College. It marks the fifth undergraduate institution to secure a partnership with the Kalamazoo-based medical school.
Students will have the opportunity to receive a bachelor’s degree from Albion and a doctorate in medicine from WMed with acceptance into both degree programs directly from high school, the release said.
