Buffs unable to maintain first-quarter lead ♦
The Tooele girls basketball team did almost everything it had to do to give itself a chance in Tuesday’s non-region home game against high-scoring Green Canyon.
The Buffaloes held the Wolves to just 37 points, 13 fewer than their previous season-low and nearly 27 points below their season average. However, the Buffs’ own offense had its fair share of struggles as well, scoring just 10 points over the final three quarters of a 37-23 loss on its home floor. Tooele (2-3), which relies on a stifling defense, failed to break the 30-point barrier for the first time this season.

Some area school districts will alter their learning set-ups next month, either coming back from winter break or when the second semester starts. Others plan to stay the course for now.
But across the board they say they continue to see limited or no spread of COVID-19 cases within school buildings, and they continue to offer full virtual learning as an option for the second semester.
The Blue Springs School District will hire 16 additional elementary and middle school teachers for next semester, as a number of elementary students will shift from virtual to in-person learning and the district wants to reduce the number of middle school staff doing both virtual and in-person teaching.

ARCHBALD, Pa. A teacher in the Valley View School District is facing charges of having child pornography.
Court documents show detectives with the Lackawanna County district attorney s office began investigating Jaime Chorba, 44, of Archbald, after receiving cyber-tips related to Chorba s email accounts and finding multiple attached images and videos of child pornography.
Investigators say many of those were uploaded while Chorba was at Valley View.
Investigators say Chorba uploaded 255 images of child pornography to his email accounts.
They also alleged he took nude pictures of himself at various locations at Valley View High School.
