Laurel County has declared a state of emergency as over 9,500 households in Laurel County are without electricity.
Jackson Energy has over 8,000 customers without power in Laurel County and is warning that it may be days before power is restored. We currently have 26,000+ members without power in our service territory, the company said in Facebook post at about 2 p.m. Tuesday. We are working 24/7 to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. However, due to the extent of these outages, it could be several day for full restoration. Brazos Valley snowfall leads to widespread power outages

ROBERTSON COUNTY, TX â The large amount of snowfall in eastern area of Robertson County came as a shock to many and became too much to handle for many power lines, leading to widespread outages.
âThe power outages widespread. it hit us really hard. I think our number are near 6,000 consumers out,â said Steve Jones, the general manager for Navasota Valley Electric.
Navasota Valley Electric workers have been working tirelessly to reconnect their customers with power, developing a rotation of crew
âWe had a crew that worked all night , then they went home to rest and we brought the other half of our crew, and theyâve been working all day today, and we re expecting the ones that went home for rest to come back in and hopefully we can make some headway in the daylight,â Jones added.
