2 new four-story school buildings turned over in Parañaque City

Published February 10, 2021, 3:58 PM As part of Parañaque City’s celebration leading to its cityhood anniversary on Saturday (February 13), two new four-story school buildings were turned over by the city on Wednesday. “This is a historical day today na nagkaroon tayo ng blessing ng extension ng ating Parañaque Science High School ang atin pong bagong building ng ating Barangay Sto. Nino High School (It is a historical day that we had the blessing of an extension of the Parañaque Science High School and a new building, the Barangay Sto. Nino High School),” Mayor Edwin Olivarez said. Mar Jimenez, head of the public information office (PIO), said that both four-story buildings are equipped with 16 classrooms.

City Council member Sammy Wilson died Thursday while in a hospital where he was being treated for the illness caused by the new virus, WBRC-TV reports. A statement by Mayor Jeff Mims said the town of 8,800 people was thankful for Wilson’s service to the community. Council member Mary Mell Smith called Wilson’s death “a big loss.” “He had that big smile on his face every time you saw him,” she said. Wilson died about six months after Billy Joe Driver, who had served as mayor for 36 years before he died of COVID-19 in July. Mims was elected to replace Driver.
