It was a mixed response from Northwoods voters on whether approve tax levy increases to help fund schools.
Voters within the School District of Phelps overwhelming passed its referendum, according to unofficial results Tuesday night. It’s a continuation of the operational funding that was set to expire this year. Voters approved $1.2 million a year for the next six years.
Wausau School District voters passed one of two funding referendums. Voters approved a $4 million recurring referendum to cover operation costs. They did not approve a $149 million referendum for capital projects.
School District of Wabeno Area voters approved spending $2.5 million each year for the next four years. More than 56% of voters said yes.
Tomahawk Elementary to be closed for the next week By Liz Holbrook
TOMAHAWK, WI (WSAU) A local elementary school will be closed due to staff shortages.
According to a Facebook post, the School District of Tomahawk will need to close Tomahawk Elementary to in-person instruction from January 13th until January 22nd. While the school is closed remote learning will begin. Instructions on remote learning were provided to parents in the school district on Wednesday.
The elementary school will be closed due to a number of teachers being in COVID-19 quarantine. Until those teachers are able to come out of quarantine, the school won’t have enough staff to keep its doors open.
