Renaming two School District of Lancaster buildings will be at the center of a virtual town hall meeting hosted by the district and YWCA Lancaster at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The School District of Lancaster will survey parents this week on three different learning environments they may select for their children beginning Jan. 25.
This move comes after Superintendent Damaris Rau on Tuesday night unveiled plans to make Jan. 25 the date the district will welcome students to return to class if they wish. Most of the districtâs 11,000 students havenât experienced that since March.
However, board members who will vote next week did not give Rau unofficial verbal approval for the proposal, which also calls for in-class learning five days each week and covers the entire educational day, all while social distancing 6 feet at all times.

Township Manager Bill Laudien said the township has been looking to sell the church property to a nonprofit organization, but the economic conditions brought on by the pandemic has made that difficult.
He said the property will be placed on the market in the spring, and the township will be purchasing both of the departmentâs existing locations for roughly $600,000 to offset the departmentâs cost of the new station.
The Maple Avenue property will most likely be used as a substation for the Manheim Township police, who provide police service to Lancaster Township. The Fairview Avenue station may serve as a transition space in the short term, but the township will probably seek to sell it in the future.
