GREEN BAY – James Prokopovitz, dressed in a blue button-down shirt open at the collar, folded his hands in front of him on the courtroom s wooden table and looked down as the judge read the jury s verdict late Saturday in a Brown County courtroom.
Guilty.
Jurors came to that conclusion after two days of deliberating whether the 75-year-old Pittsfield man killed his wife nearly eight years ago. Victoria Prokopovitz was 59 when she went missing in April 2013. Her body has never been found.
Police arrested James Prokopovitz in May 2019. At the end of a two-week trial that started Feb. 8, the jury found him guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, resisting or obstructing an officer and two counts of perjury related to his wife s disappearance.
