The EIR is a review of potential environmental impacts of proposed projects required by the California Environmental Quality Act. Ironically, UC Berkeley describes the LRDP as “one of our most important tools for responsible long-term campus planning and for being a good community partner.”

A San Joaquin County grand jury report blasted the Stockton Unified School District’s Board of Trustees for inappropriate behavior and misconduct, but the board does not have to implement any of the recommendations. The 33-page report released on Wednesday found the board lacks transparency and accessibility, violates the Brown Act, ignores civil, behavioral norms and is the key reason for the district’s high superintendent turnover rate, among many other findings of misconduct. Gary Cooper, foreperson of the 2020-21 San Joaquin County civil grand jury, said jurors began investigating the school district after numerous complaints and media evidence of inappropriate conduct.

Grand Jury finds Stockton Unified trustees failed as district leaders

A San Joaquin County civil grand jury has found the Stockton Unified School District Board of Trustees have failed as district leaders and will likely continue to do so.  A scathing 33-page report released by the 2020-21 grand jury says Stockton Unified trustees are the direct reason for what's been called the district's "revolving door" of superintendents. Stockton Unified has had 14 interim and permanent superintendents in just over 30 years, several of which in recent years have left before fulfilling their contracts. The report shows that nearly all assumed the superintendent role from 2005 to 2021, with only six having been permanent and average tenure lasting about 19 months. The district has changed leadership three times in the past year alone.

City Council To Appoint Members To Malibu Homelessness Task Force

Canyon News MALIBU—The Malibu City Council will each appoint two members to the new Homelessness Task Force during its virtual meeting on Wednesday, July 21 at 5 p.m. All community members are invited to participate in the meeting. During the meeting, City Council will discuss the efforts to address homelessness in the city and proposed amendments to the City’s Nuisance Code to address the alarming amount of brush fires in homeless encampments. There have been 17 fires in 2021. The city’s current definition of a nuisance lacks clear detail to property owners what a nuisance is. The proposed amendments will include language specific to fire and public health hazards.
